After Thanksgiving Recovery..................

Hi everyone- I don't know about y'all but I'm stuffed more than the Turkey. We had a great time on Thanksgiving. We got most of the cooking done on Wednesday so all that was left was the Turkey to go in the oven; green bean casserole and potatoes.

Justin was going to bring home the Grankitty but.....................

no no I won't go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He thought he was hiding.  The brakes came on so he stayed home.

Table was set and dinner was on table by 8p - I know that might seem late to most but in our house it is considered early.  Everything was very yummy.  It was Keith, myself, Justin and Rachel, Austin, Quinn and Adele and my mother in law.  We cleaned the table after dinner and started a new tradition in our family.  An old tradition from Keith's family.  We played poker.  We had a lot of fun and laughs and Adele and Rachel were the big winners.

Friday, Rachel, my mother in law - Daryl and I went to the big craft show at the NC State Fairground, A Christmas Carousel.  It was very crowded.  But I found some great things.  We got Holly an ECU neckachief; we got some homemade dog biscuits, and here are some of the treasures I found. I also got a few things for the tree and stockings.

It's an old suitcase painted on front.

He was very white........I think he needs a little more shmutzing- walnut stain!

Handmade Raggedy Ann - Sarah

Her name is Amy

cute snowman on stand

This tree lights up and in all the holes go different color bulbs.  They remind me of light brite pegs. I bought this for Keith.  Him mom had one similar growing up. I will repost when completed.

Friday we celebrated dinner with Rachel (Justin's fiance) and her family for Justin's Master's program graduation and entry into the PhD program at UNCG. We all went to the Aviator in Fuquay - we had a very nice evening.

Saturday we had an after Thanksgiving Day Yard Sale and didn't do too bad.  It wasn't a total flop- Garage rid of Yard sale boxes, we got some cash and had a fun morning.

Hope everyone is now home safe and sound and now to get ready for Round 2! Christmas and Chanukah!.......................................

I'm still here................

Hi everyone, I just noticed it's been a week since my last post.  Physical Therapy, getting ready for Thanksgiving, mother in law visit, blah blah blah.  The rest of the year for me has so much going on it's going to fly by!  Next week I'm off to Wisconsin for some fun time at The Gathering.  It's going to be cold but I won't be outside very often and very much worth the trip.  It's truly some Peaceful time away from home.  My dear husband supported my trip although it's our Anniversary the day after I leave.

Keith has decided to start a tradition this year of playing cards after Thanksgiving dinner.  It is something we did growing up at his house.  Justin, Rachel, Quinn, Adele, Austin , my mother in law, Keith and myself.  Good times, good food, good family/company.

Friday we will be going out to celebrate Justin's Grad School Graduation and his acceptance to the PhD program at UNCG.

Today is baking and making everything but the Turkey.  I have set aside a short window to get my hair done.

For those that will be Traveling- Travel Safely - and to ALL

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!

Update

Good morning everyone.  It appears there's been some confusion on receiving blog emails.  I can only put 10 email addresses to be notified.  Not sure why but those are the rules.  So I had sent an email to subscribe directly.  I don't know if anyone ever did that.  So I have chosen 10 of you to receive the blog without having to figure out how to do that.  For those that don't receive it directly ..................

On the right side of the blog you will see the following - enter your email address and click on submit.  That will send the blog to you when I post something new as well.  If you have NOT received the blog in a while.  I have posted 5 parts to a contest.  (maybe 6) - I am going to post at 10 am another part. Whoever gets what the item is correctly will win a $5 Amazon gift card. stay tuned!

Recipesssssssssssssssssssss..........

So I haven't posted a recipe in a while.  Between trip to Europe and knee surgery I haven't done much in the cooking department.  I just came across this and thought I'd share this as something to checkout.  It's crockpot time in the North and those in the warmer states a crockpot meal can always make life easier.  I am going to try a few of these recipes and I will update those recipes I try as to whether they are good or bad.

I can't believe Thanksgiving is a week from Thursday.  I, however, can't find chestnuts. It's part of the tradition for my stuffing.  If anyone comes across some in NC (in the triangle) let me know. Thanks.  No matter how many people we have for dinner the menu is a tradition in our house:

Turkey
Gravy
Sausage / chestnut stuffing
cranberry relish (grandfather's recipe)
cranberry sauce (canned)
sauteed mushrooms
honey glazed carrots
crescent rolls
green bean casserole
fresh candied sweet potatoes
mashed potatoes
pumpkin pie
pecan pie
key lime pie (doesn't really fit in the theme but Keith likes to make for Austin)

Needless to say we have a LOT of leftovers.

Piece 5 - Contest #1 $5 Amazon Gift Card

Here's piece 5, the last and final piece....be sure to check back at 10 am tomorrow - I will post a part of the "Craft" completed.  The first to guess what it is wins.

It will post the time of your guess so be sure comment.  If you are having issues commenting please email me at luv2quilt63@gmail.com

Croatia- last group of pictures from the Meditteranean

It's been non stop since our return from the Meditteranean. So I haven't had the chance to post my last set of pictures.

Panormaic view of Croatia from the ship

These boats were loaded and unloaded like ferrys

view  of the city

We walked to an area where they had history to see - along the way
we passed the local vegetable markets and butcher shop(s) it was really cool.

Justin and Quinn at the bottom of the stairs awaiting Keith and I to enter the city.

Buildings within the Old City

Planning where to go next.

Quinn going "down under"

This sign was an actual sign outside a night club

Cute name for a tire- however it really was a shoe shop

The local fish mareket

the fish was definately fresh- there was barely the smell of fish.

Burger King in Croatia

Leaving the city- a beautiful view

Quinn and his Pipi Pop

Justin and Quinn's fish filled lunch (I think it was sardines?, squid, octopus, and I don't know what else. )

Keith and I shared home made gnocchi with marinara

"what? it was good"

More my speed, olives and cheese.

Justin's fish creation - Gross!

Keith looking at the water

Yup- we found the pigeons in Croatia to feed.  Keith tried to feed them in
Greece but we were told it was illegal and the "police would come".

They all flocked to him - he brought bread from lunch.
Happy Keith with Happy Pigeons.

Just a pretty view - I don't know the people in the picture.

Yup still feeding the birds!

Back at the port checking out the bumpers where the boats dock.

Our ship.

Lunch at the airport.

Keith enjoying the food on the plane. NOT!

I didn't think it was too bad.

The trip was long but fun - we came back home to get a call from Austin that he won first place at the Yugioh tournament for his birthday.  He won $200 cash and some other prizes.  Here's the link to the youtube video that the company created about his win.

Wahoo Fall is here!!!

Well Summer went out like a Lion!  The heat, humidity and hurricanes.  GOOD RIDDENS! Have you watched any of the new Fall shows?  My favor...
